Cooper Health looked at two other vendors before settling on eTrust Intrusion Detection from Computer Associates International, Inc. (CA). “We needed a product with the scalability for push technology. CA’s solution was the only one,” said Dr. Samaha. “With eTrust Intrusion Detection push technology, the system can send an email alert to the appropriate people saying that someone has accessed an inappropriate website.” He also wanted to block access to inappropriate sites, and monitor and record users’ attempts to access the sites. Most of the other software we looked at required specific technology and was blind to the technology we have.” “Our network is connected to a university network,” added Dr. Samaha. “eTrust Intrusion Detection was doing its job, watching for unusual patterns such as flooding of packets or too much traffic, when we received an alert saying we were being attacked. It turned out that it was the beginning of a problem on the university network.
